Mexico: Nieto states plans to meet with President-elect Trump


Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto stated that following the US presidential elections, his country and the US will begin “a new chapter”, during a press conference in Mexico City, Wednesday.

SOT, Enrique Pena Nieto, President of Mexico (Spanish): “I spoke to President-elect Donald Trump to express to him my congratulations for his achieved victory. I made these extensive congratulations also to the members of his family, who accompanied him during the entire campaign. I have to say that it was a cordial, friendly and respectful conversation.”

SOT, Enrique Pena Nieto, President of Mexico (Spanish): “We agreed that our teams should come into contact to start to delineate a new working agenda that incorporates the mutual areas of interests, such as the security, cooperation, and prosperity of our societies.”

SOT, Enrique Pena Nieto, President of Mexico (Spanish): “From this democratic process, a new chapter begins in relations between Mexico and the United States, which will involve a change, a challenge, but we must also say it, a great opportunity. Mexicans are going to start this stage with security and determination, but most importantly, in unity.”
