For reasons entirely unknown, former Breitbart editor Sebastian Gorka is still working in the Trump White House. During a Thursday afternoon appearance on CNN, Gorka told host Jake Tapper that Trump may return the Russian spy compound in Maryland back over to the Russians. President Obama ordered the facilities to be shut down after conclusive reports from U.S. Intelligence agencies said Russia was interfering in U.S. elections.
The compounds, which had been used for decades as retreats for Russian diplomats, were shut down by the Obama administration as part of a package of punitive measures in response to Russia’s meddling in the election. The White House expelled 35 diplomats, saying at the time they were targeted because of ongoing harassment of U.S. personnel in Russia.
But at least some of the 35 diplomats were kicked out because they were suspected of being involved in election-interference operations, according to one of the former officials.
Only one week ago, it was reported that the Russians hacked into 12 U.S. power plants, including a nuclear facility in Kansas. And yet, here is White House adviser Sebastian Gorka, who is widely disdained and mocked by actual national security experts, describing Trump’s desire to “give collaboration a chance” with Russia.
Why? U.S. Intelligence agencies found evidence the compound was used for spying and the FBI had been trying to close the compounds for some time:
