SIGN UP AT EVENTBRITE TO PARTICIPATE!
Americans spent $4.1 million on poster and foam boards from Jan. 15 to Jan. 21, 2017. During difficult times humans come together and draw the circle wider. Art flourishes as passions arise. Limitations allow for creative problem-solving.
Art+Activism will host The Art of Protest at Sycamore Place Gallery
During the Decatur Book Festival. All WCAGA members are invited to participate and express their voices. Here’s the catch–the artwork can be in any type of media, but must use a piece of posterboard, cardboard, foam core or other ephemeral materials. From there on out, there are no other rules. Celebrate your first amendment right and let your voice be heard.
We will come together at Sycamore Place Gallery on Friday, September 1, 2017, in Decatur 6-10pm. It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow artists and rise up! Remember, well-behaved women seldom make history!
This show is free for WCAGA members and $20 for non-members. We plan to hang ‘Salon Style’ and cover the walls with Protest Posters.
Artists must sign up by July 31, with delivery to Sycamore Place Gallery between August 21 and August 25, times tba. We will also take submissions for spoken word, video performance and collaborative pieces for the opening event. Art will be up for the remainder of the weekend with daytime gallery hours from 12-6. We will also be open to scheduling artist workshops or community events during the rest of the weekend.
